Scar Treatment Cream
January 4th, 2008The skin is the largest body’s organ, with an average surface area of 1.8 square meters in adults. Our skin is highly sophisticated. It aids to keep us cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather and it also defends us from dehydrating. Our skin is constantly shedding old cells and creating new ones, enabling it to repair itself if injured. It is the repair mechanism that can result in a scar.
A scar is an essential part of this biological healing mechanism following a damage to the thick layer of skin (the dermis) or the outer layer of skin (the epidermis). Damage to the outer layer of skin is healed by rebuilding the tissue, and in these instances, scarring is slight. When we harm the thick layer of tissue beneath the skin, rebuilding is more complicated. Our bodies accumulate collagen fibers (a protein which is naturally produced by the body) and this commonly results in a noticeable scar.
After the wound has healed, the scar continues to alter as new collagen is formed and the blood vessels return to normal. According to this, at least two years are required to fade and improve the appearance of most scars. However, there will always be some noticeable evidence of the injury and hair follicles and sweat glands do not grow back.
It is important to remember that a wound does not become a scar until the skin has healed completely. Skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis and injuries such as small burns or sunburn are not scars because the skin is damaged or still being repaired. However, these conditions could lead to a small scar if scratched before the outer layer of skin is healed.
Many people have some sort of scar and for most of them this doesn’t cause any troubles. However, this is not true for all people.
How Can Scar Creams Benefit My Healing Journey
There are many scar healing creams, silicone gels and ointments, made of vitamins, herbal extracts, and biological ingredients that are designed to optimize the healing of scars, aid in scar minimizing and make scars far less evident.
It’s hard to find an effective scar removal solution, but scar minimizing products are supposed to act on all types of scars and help reduce the scar height, tissue size, thickness, and coloration of scars of all skin types and color, including post-surgery scars, keloids, hypertrophic scars, and other scar types caused by injury, trauma, and burns.
These scarminimizing products can also help soften and smoothen the scar and limit scar growth and size. Scar creams, gels, and sheets can help make your scar far less evident. Some of these scar reduction solutions can also alleviate redness surrounding the scar, reduce the discomfort of itching that can happen along the scarring lines, and help keep the skin’s moisture balance and elasticity of nearby skin. Scar healing products can be efficient and have benefits on new and old scars. For fresh scars, scar reduction products should only be used after wounds have fully healed.
