How To Persuade People To Eat Healthy: With A Family Budget

October 28th, 2007

It is tough to know how to persuade people to eat healthy especiallywhen it is so simple not to. That is a plain and simple fact. It is more difficult to watch the folks you love slowly kill themselves, despite all the signs, advice and warnings telling your family or friends to better their lifestyle, change their habits or stop all together.

Too bad, it’s not equally as easy to reverse disorders, heart problems, colon cancer, or a whole truckload of diseases, ailments, sicknesses, pains and terminal results thanks to undisciplined, less than ideal, unhealthy routines that come from filling a person’s arteries, veins, muscles, cells and tissues with toxins and food that is harmful.

Many people make the assumption everyone “knows that” it is much “more costly” to eat healthy meals rather than just junk foods. A wallet conscious almost guarantees to decrease those ideal eating routines in too many ways to count. Unhealthy food, usually are cheap at the grocery store than more healthy choices, making it a bit too easy for most people to eat “bad” food rather than the healthier option. Even when you’re dining out, it is More “affordable” in the sense of money alone to run into a fast food restaurant than to eat out at a restaurant that can have fresher, more healthy choices.

Your budget crunch doesn’t have to put a complete lid on healthy eating goals. Simply pursue some creative solutions and improve your health with healthy eating, by choice.

Budget Minded Tips for Healthy Eating

Tip #1 - Peruse Your Local Farmers Market

You can usually find a local farmer’s market in the warm months and, if you live in a larger city, you can find them selling all four seasons. You’re going to find the best seasonal deals and you’ll often stumble upon amazing items at bargain prices that are easy on your budget.

If you’re not sure where to look for a farmer’s market, ask people you believe to be healthy, including those you don’t know.

Tip #2 - In-Store Sales At Your Grocery Store

You can find bargains on fresh produce if you’re willing to go to a store other than your favorite to take advantage of the best sales. With regular shopping, it will become obvious that each store consistently has better pricing on certain items, but you never know who might be having a Mother of all sales, collect all coupon fliers from your newspapers, a mailing list or the stores, themselves.

Tip #3 - Buy Vegetables and Fruit

Don’t be fooled by convenience. ‘Baby carrots’ aren’t as good for you, and may purposely be packaged to hide spoiling and flaws that are, yes, unhealthy, but a waste of your money. Truth be told, there are more body benefiting health components you’re looking for, simply by selecting, preparing and washing your own produce.

Tip #4 - Swear Never To Buy A Packaged Dinner Again

Not nearly as daunting as your Mother may have conditioned you, homemade cooking: soup, stew, the dreaded ‘casserole”, and just about anything you buy ready to eat in a box or carton, no kidding, has much more nutritional benefit. Packaged food is purposely made to last for sometimes years on end, thus it should be crystal clear, that such unhealthy alternatives is loaded with extra, but completely unnecessary calories, sugars, sodium - (salt), and you don’t want to know about the hidden possibility of worms, bugs, hair, moths and the occasional human finger as history has proven! A cookbook even from your local library, so you don’t have to spend a dime from your food budget may sound intimidating, but the money you’ll save in the first month will banish any doubts you may have now. Side note: the newest edition of, ‘The Joy of Cooking’ I can attest is a wise way to spend your money.

Healthy eating is attainable and the bonus is you can do it while saving time, money and possibly yourself, health-wise. How to persuade someone to eat healthy obviously is not a budget-thing, but a serious health issue. It is really as simple as if healthy eating is your pending resolution, eating healthier is all that is needed.
