How Conversational Hypnosis Can Make Your Life Better

November 9th, 2007

The word ‘hypnosis’ usually conjures up images of a comedian getting people to do funny things or a doctor with a swinging watch. But there are many types of hypnosis, in fact, there is one you can use to influence people without them even knowing it. Yes, it’s true, conversational hypnosis can be used by anyone to convince people of anything!

Man has actually used this type of hypnosis for quite some time, in fact, you may have experienced it yourself and never even known it. You see, there are no swinging watches or snapping of fingers, you can actually put people into a state of hypnosis or autosuggestion simply with the words you use and they way you use them in normal every day conversation.

There is nothing magic about conversational hypnosis, it’s actually just simply using the art of persuasion, along with some key techniques, to bypass your subjects critical mind and get them to agree with your ideas. This is much like what we do every day - try to persuade your co-workers to go with your idea, try to get someone to do you a favor or to get agreement on something. The difference is that if you knew the techniques of conversational hypnosis you would get them to agree a lot more often!

This type of hypnosis can be used on 1 on 1 conversations, and is also used frequently by public speakers addressing a whole audience of people. It employs the use of vocal timing, language patterns and voice intonations in order to influence others. Anyone can learn it and can adapt it for use in a variety of situations. If you are on the receiving end of this type of hypnosis, you might find yourself engrossed in what the speaker has to say and hypnotized, if you will, to agree with him easily changing your opinion from what it may have been before.

An interesting use of this type of hypnosis was by Dr. Milton Erikson who used it on many patients in the 1950’s because hypnosis was banned by the AMA, and by doing it conversationally, he could use it’s power for healing, but not get into ‘trouble’ for using hypnosis. When he was called to the American Medical Association for disciplinary hearing because of his use of hypnosis, he used those same techniques on the board itself and instead of having his license revoked, all the charges against him were dropped and the next year the AMA reversed their ban on hypnosis allowing all doctors to use it!

Conversational hypnosis is not something that should be used to take advantage of people and, in fact, it cannot since your subconscious mind will never let you be harmed or allow you to do something against your will. However, it can be effective in allowing you to get the things you want - a sale of a product, getting your spouse to agree with you, even getting your boss or coworkers to implement your ideas. It is a tool that can allow you to enjoy life and get everything you ever wanted, while also making the lives of those you care about better too!
