Do You Have Runners Knee?
November 11th, 2007Think you may have runners knee? Let me share my experience with you. I am a young, healthy individual who enjoys outdoor activities like jogging, running, and marathons. Being active is something that allows me to clear my head and relax. So, when I developed Runner’s Knee, I just about lost my mind.
I almost always run every day, and sometimes I’ll compete or run marathons. But then last summer, a terrible pain flared up in my right knee. The doc told me about the condition and how I would need to stop running for a while. I almost slapped him.
We take it for granted that the cartilage cushioning the knee lets our joints glide smoothly. But with Runner’s Knee, the knee grinds against the joints, which is terribly painful. That was what I was going through. I’ll tell you, it’s no fun.
So, armed with a bottle of Vicodin and a book, I tried to make friends with the couch. It wasn’t long before I went nuts! I wanted to get up and run, but my Runner’s Knee wasn’t going to let me do that for a while.
This is what I learned to keep my sanity. You can only purchase things from infomercials so many times before it dawns on you that they’re all junk! You can find a reality TV show for every mundane situation you could possibly imagine. It is not possible to read the encyclopedia.
Heating pads are proof that God loves us and wants to heal everybody. It is true that people have thousands of channels, and there is still nothing to watch. Finally, my knee got better and now I am running again. I can only think of that few weeks of my life as ‘Hell Week!’ Well, I’m off for a run! Talk to you soon.
